Work Smarter, Not Harder!

We can learn something or be reminded of something daily. I was in Houston for a sales meeting on Tuesday. It was a great meeting, we celebrated some great accomplishments as we closed out Q3 and looked toward Q4.

When the meeting was over, I walked out to my truck and there on my passenger side a flat tire.

I had to be back in Austin for a meeting and it was pouring down rain! I had the choice to try and fix this thing or call for help.

I thought, I could work really hard and change this tire and it would probably take me 45min – 1hour. I would be soaking wet and I didn’t have a change of clothes. Or I could call for help and get some work done while I wait and be productive. The latter seemed like a better investment of my time.

Helped showed up in 20 minutes. He told me he would be done in 5 minutes. With such an bold claim I decided to time him and he finished in 5 minutes and 21 seconds.

It’s amazing what he could do with he right knowledge and tools. Not to mention I knocked out a great deal of work and was able to still make my meeting in the knick of time!

The next time life throws a curveball choose to use it to your advantage. We all will have problems, how you respond is what will separate you from the rest of the world!
